About the Moist-Sure Fleece Cover Model 162The Moist-Sure Fleece Cover is the standard cover that ships with every medium Thermophore heating pad. The cotton/fleece blend is specifically engineered to absorb humidity from the surrounding air between sessions. When the pad heats up, it activates that absorbed moisture into therapeutic steam that penetrates deeper into muscles and joints than dry heat alone — no water, spray bottles, or damp towels needed.
Over time, fleece fibers wear thin, or the cover shrinks from incorrect washing, and the pad begins producing dry heat instead of moist heat. A new Model 162 cover can restore full moist heat function to a pad that still works perfectly — at a fraction of the cost of a replacement pad. Keep a spare so you can wash one while using the other without interrupting your therapy routine.

The cover is the component that makes moist heat possible. The cotton/fleece blend absorbs humidity from the surrounding air between sessions. When the pad heats up, it activates that moisture into therapeutic steam. Without a properly functioning cover, your Thermophore only produces dry heat. A new cover can instantly restore the moist heat function.
Which medium pads does the Model 162 fit?
The Model 162 fits all Thermophore medium 14" × 14" heating pads: MaxHEAT 156, Liberty 156, Liberty 056, and MaxHEAT Plus 356. It is the standard OEM cover for the MaxHEAT 156, Liberty 156, and Liberty 056. The MaxHEAT Plus 356 ships with the Moisture-Plus cover (Model 160), but the 162 fits it as an alternative. The model number of your pad is printed on its label.
What is the difference between the Model 162 and the Moisture-Plus Model 160?
Both fit all four medium 14" × 14" Thermophore pads and both produce automatic moist heat from ambient humidity. The Model 160 Moisture-Plus adds a pocket with a washcloth for supplemental steam in dry climates or heavy A/C, and it is machine washable and non-shrinkable. The Model 162 has no pocket, relies entirely on ambient humidity, and must be hand washed to prevent shrinkage. If you live in a normal-humidity home, the 162 works perfectly.
When should I replace my Thermophore cover?
Replace the cover when it no longer produces adequate moist heat, when the fleece has worn thin, when it has shrunk from washing, or when it no longer fits the pad snugly. A well-maintained cover can last years, but the fleece does wear over time.
Will a new cover restore moist heat to my old Thermophore?
If your Thermophore still heats up properly but no longer produces moist heat, a new cover may restore the moist heat function. However, if the pad itself has stopped heating or heats unevenly, the issue is with the heating element and a new cover will not fix that.
How do I care for the Model 162?
Hand wash in tepid water with mild soap and drip dry. Do not machine wash or machine dry — this causes shrinkage. Do not use fabric softener, as it coats the fibers and reduces moisture absorption. Allow the cover to fully dry before returning it to the pad.
Is it good to have a spare cover?
Yes. After washing, the cover needs time to dry and reabsorb humidity from the air before your next session. Having a spare means you can wash one while using the other so you always have a moisture-ready cover available. Many households with multiple Thermophore users keep extra covers for hygiene as well.
